On Dec 27 I began coding a little deck building game. Progress eventually slowed to a crawl, which made me realize it could have been more fun to treat this as a one-man game jam:
- prevent scope creep
- + time management skills (in the context of gamedev)
- defined endpoint ← less stress, more poasts :^)
I gave myself an extra hour to polish and declared it done. Leave a comment with your high score! (i would have set up a leaderboard but i couldnt find a way into google's backend)

I managed to make it to 19 by more or less just clicking buttons randomly with 0 idea what I was doing, was a fun way to kill 20 minutes, thanks!
ReplyDeleteGot to level 33 with a score of 3,204.
ReplyDeleteVery fun, probably going to come back later to try and beat this score.
Great game. Got to level 30 off of a very buffed Two Face. How much coding knowledge required to make something like this?
ReplyDeleteAlso, where do you see your high score? [Game Over] message indicates level but not score. I was at 784/2000 on the round where I was knocked out.
It doesn't take much! w3schools and stack overflow got me thru most of the project. You can play with the code yourself by going Inspect → post-body → Copy → Inner HTML and pasting the code into a new post. You'll also see the many vestigial code fragments I left while working on the base mechanics.
DeleteYour high score is the highest level you made it to 👍
Made it to level 44 with an absolutely ridiculously buffed Milksong. +2/play, play 3 times, and just stuffed it full of milk. Great game!
